2024 was a busy year! This video sums up some of my professional endeavors in a song, and the pictures that follow give you a glimpse into what else I’ve been up to these past 12 months. If you want some deeper dives, check out my posts about visiting Charlottesville for my 40th high school reunion, canvassing in Hazleton, launching Facing the Fracture in Santa Barbara and DC, recording my audiobook, and visits to college campuses.
Who I spent time with
The best thing about all the travel I’ve been doing for work is getting to see people. This year, I visited with family, friends, and longtime colleagues near and far. I also met wonderful people through my professional activities.
What I ate
I love capturing my meals in pictures, which then reside on my phone. I’m pulling a few out to share some deliciousness of 2024 with you.
Creative projects
In 2023, I learned to make friendship bracelets, and I put together 100 of them to trade with Swifties at the Eras Tour. In 2024, I doubled my output, this time with Ready to Be Strong bracelets that matched the cover of Facing the Fracture and echoed the final chapter (which also became the name of my new podcast). Inspired by the Taylor Swift doll a friend gifted me (do you sense a pattern?), I roped another friend into creating episode 1 of The Adventures of Taylor Swift and Buffy the Vampire Slayer – perhaps more episodes will come in 2025!
Entertainment
I saw great performances by Madonna, Beabadoobee, Men Without Hats, The Thompson Twins, and the Buffering the Vampire Slayer podcasters!
Sunsets
I am very fortunate to live near a beach where I often take walks. Even though I likely have thousands of sunset photos, I can’t help but take more. Here are a few to look at as we sunset 2024.
